Santi B. de Bourgogne (officially Mauro Bigazzi Giacomi DeBergerac) first appeared on stage in the mid sixties and as early as 1967 he was already working as the leading dancer in the"Türluss Lautrec Ballet" as well as having been signed up as Sylvie Vartan's personal choreographer. In fact, if you have ever wondered at the class of the world famous Cha cha cha, Mambo and Tango dance steps, then you need look no further than Santi B.
With the advent of colour TV in Italy, his long term friend and colleague Franco Miseria asked Santi to choreograph a series of Saturday night shows that were to prove a landmark in showbiz history. One afternoon in June while recording one of these transmissions, Joyello wandered onto the set by mistake and one of the most fruitful collaborations in music history was born.
The two formed a formidable song and dance partnership that over the years saw countless avant-garde projects spring from their fingers and toes, including the immensely successful Boccone Youth, Bresaolas, Papafrols, O Trio and Bittersweet Memories, which hardly need any introduction here.
In 1990 the duo joined Steve Benaglia's Le Madri della Psicanalisi and together the five-strong powerhouse went from strength to strength, culminating in the unforgettable farewell concert in Hamburg where the band fronted an all star cast including MINO REITANO AND HIS BROTHERS, SANTO CALIFORNIA, PUNTO MORTO SUPERIORE and the ANALISI DI UN DIPINTO.
After the break up of the Madri, Santi took a break from the music scene and it wasn't until the year 2000 and the formation of the Cheesy Orchestra that the talents of this eclectic showman returned to the stage.
The rest, of course, is history.
